GACPA Iloilo Chapter Induction of New Board of Directors, Officers and Members



The GACPA Iloilo Chapter recently held its induction of new Board of Directors, Officers, and Members during its 4th Quarterly Membership Meeting and Technical Sessions at the Hotel  del Rio, Iloilo City on October 8 to 9, 2015. The 2-day event was highlighted on the first day by turnover of new leadership from outgoing Chapter President Maria Liane L. Galomali to incoming President Asuncion D. Grecia. Likewise, GACPA National President Mr. Wilfredo A. Agito inducted the newly elected Board of Directors and Officers. On the other hand, President Grecia inducted the Committee Chairpersons and New members. In her validectory address, Immediate Past President Galomali gave a report on the accoplishments of the chapter during her stint as President. She enumerated significant achievements, such as increase in membership and various projects undertaken to promote the welfare of its members, including donations given to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda. President Grecia on her part pledged to continue the thrusts and programs of the Chapter with more vigor and enthusiasm.

In his keynote address, National President Agito encouraged all GACPA members to lift to higher level the standards of the accountancy profession. Citing the theme "Building Global Partnerships through Knowledge Sharing", he plans to make GACPA a member of the Asian Federation of Accountants, presently headed by a Filipino CPA. He gave as an example the roles the public sector CPAs are playing in the field of auditing where the Philippine Commission on Audit on many instances has been appointed as auditor of the United Nations, and as the Project Leader of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Supreme Audit Institutions (ASEANSAI) Knowledge Sharing Committee on the implementation of international standards of auditing. He also brought to the group the possibilty of conducting environmental auditing as an instrument of protecting and preserving the environment. He encouraged all CPAs to be loyal to their profession.

The technical sessions followed in the afternoon. A retinue of well known resource persons who are experts in their own fields will make the technical sessions more valuable and meaningful.
