The 36th GACPA Annual National Convention

The 36th GACPA Annual National Convention (ANC) held at the Skylight Convention Center in the City of Puerto Princesa, Palawan on May 21 -24, 2014 was a resounding success. Headed by its national president  Atty. Lito Q. Martin of the Commission on Audit, and with the theme “SUSTAINING PUBLIC TRUST THROUGH ACCOUNTABILITY, CREDIBILITY, AND TRANSPARENCY”,  the activities started with a motorcade around the city and a courtesy call to the city officials in the morning of the first day. It was followed by a GACPA Board Meeting with the Chapter Presidents early in the afternoon .  On the same day,  COA officials and employees attended the Special Technical Sessions on Disaster Aid Audit “ENHANCING AUDIT OF DISASTER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM TOOLS, TALES AND TECHNIQUES” in the morning.  In the afternoon, another session was held for agency accountants  on the topic “ DEFINING ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY OVER NDRRMF: A SYNOPSIS ON THE ACCOUNTING GUIDELINES”. The technical session was co-sponsored by the USAID and other development agencies and spearheaded by Commissioner Heidi L. Mendoza.

The second day was ushered by a Thanksgiving Mass at 8:00am officiated by Rev. Fr. Eugene S. Elivera, Rector Principal, Seminario de San Jose, Puerto Princesa City. It  was followed by an opening plenary program with the Atty. Fidela M. Tan of the COA givng the opening remarks and presentation of the delegates. Puerto Princesa City Mayor Honorable  Lucilo R. Bayron,  who was introduced by the GACPA Palawan Chapter President Melchor Borja, did the honors of welcoming the delegates/participants and the ceremonial  turnover of symbolic key of the city. No less than our very own Commisioner Heidi L. Mendoza delivered her message as the keynote speaker. Technical sessions on related and interesting topics. She was introduced by Director Wilfredo A. Agito, GACPA Executive Assistant.

A series of technical sessions were likewise conducted to make the  convention worthwhile.

In the end, it was reported that more than 1,500 certified public accountants in government attended this convention. The technical sessions materials are available and may be downloaded from the GAPCPA website
